Virginia Ann (Debner) Schultz

Age 73, of Golden Valley (formerly of Elk River).  Passed away on October 30, 2023 at her home in Golden Valley, MN.

Virginia was born on May 24, 1950 to William Jr and JeAnette (Maack) Debner in Glencoe, MN.  She was baptized on June 25, 1950 at the family home in Plato, MN where she was raised.  Virginia was confirmed in 1964 at St Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato, which is also where she married Arlo on January 3, 1970.

She taught Sunday School and played piano for churches and Sunday Schools in Plato, Sleepy Eye, and St Cloud.  She was a member and leader of the Union Congregational UCC Elk River Altar Guild (Visual Arts).  Virginia loved planting and enjoying garden flowers.  She enjoyed raising her beloved sons and was happy and proud to see them grow into loving husbands and fathers.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her four grandchildren, her Best Medicine.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arlo; sons, Dan (Sarah) of Maple Grove, MN and Joel (Holly) of Chanhassen, MN; grandchildren, Emme, Sadie, Drew, and Zach Schultz; sister, LaVonne Carlblom of Glencoe, MN; sisters-in-law, Char Leone of Fircrest, WA, Juliene Beeth of Anchorage, AK, and Linda (Mike) Matousek of Glencoe, MN; brothers-in-law, Ron Schultz of Folsom, CA and Roger Bernard of Hutchinson, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Arlo’s parents, Alvin & Cordella Schultz; brother Gary (Patricia) Debner; sister-in-law, Janell Bernard; brother-in-law, George Leone Sr.

A Celebration of Virginia’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Union Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 1118 – 4th St NW, Elk River, with visitation starting at 9:30 AM.
