Susan Mary Hans (Towley) Schoolmeesters

Susan Mary Hans Schoolmeesters, age 82 of Elk River, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids on July 27, 1942 to Robert and Ethel (Thompson) Towley.

Sue was a 1960 graduate of Bemidji High School. Being a stay-at-home mom gave Sue the opportunity to watch her children grow. She was also there to help care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren later in life. Sue cherished time with her family, often arranging family reunions and picnics.

On January 25, 1963 Susan Towley and John Schoolmeesters were united in marriage in La Crescent, MN.

Sue enjoyed playing cards and games, and camping at the Longville Campground. She was a great cook and baker, and loved getting Christmas gifts for her family and friends.

She is preceded by her parents, Robert and Ethel Towley.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, John Schoolmeesters; children, Mike (Sophia) Schoolmeesters and their children Jordan (Jake) and Dylan (Jenelle), Karen (Brian) Pollock and their children Sadie and Colton (Michaela), Kevin (Michele) Schoolmeesters and their children Tiffani (Kevin), Tara (Justin), Alexis (Cole), and Carter (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Jackson, Hannah, Harper, Nova, Leiana, and one due in May 2025; siblings, Jim (Susan) Towley, David (Kathy) Towley, Mark Towley, Gregg (Noel) Towley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM, at Central Lutheran Church, 1103 School St NW, Elk River, MN. Burial following at 2:00 PM at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
