Shirley Marie Stuttgen, age 77, of Elk River passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Treesa (Vaughn) Howard; and brother Richard Howard. Surviving are her loving husband, Robert Stuttgen; sons James (Melly) Tierney, and Daniel Tierney, grandson Thomas Tierney; stepdaughters Janet, and Jill; many step-grandchildren, and friends; and her treasured Springer Spaniel puppy, Brooke.
Shirley was kind, loving, compassionate, supportive and generous. She was a caregiver at heart. She took care of her mother and brother when they were ill. She also served at the VFW in Elk River making sure it was always decorated and looking its best.
Sewing, oil painting, quilting, wood working, wood refinishing, cooking, baking, gardening, were all talents of Shirley’s. She was very proficient at these too. Her pie and cobbler were second to none.
Shirley was quite the fashionista. Having quite the collection of handmade clothing and outfits complete with matching bags and shoes.
Shirley fervently studied the bible each morning, devoting several hours to her readings. She was very knowledgeable about the bible and took detailed notes on what she read. She not only read the bible but followed the bible in word and deed. She kept to herself and her family and stayed focused on what was important. She was dearly loved and will be forever missed.
Services for Shirley will be held at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main Street NW, Elk River, 763-441-1212. (www.daresfuneralservice.com). In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred in Shirley’s name to the American Cancer Society.
