Shannon Marie (Nickelson) McElhone

Shannon Marie McElhone, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Shannon was born July 21st, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Martin and Dorothy Nickelson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Shannon had a huge heart and loved giving back and helping anyone in need. She enjoyed listening to music, playing the accordion and piano, going to movies, dining out and spending time with her family. 

Shannon married Lee McElhone on August 20th, 1960. They were married for almost 60 years. Together they raised their son Sean in Big Lake, MN. Shannon was a registered nurse and retired at the age of 72.

Shannon is survived by her son, Sean (Kerrie) McElhone; grandchildren, Nicholas (Katie) McElhone, Kayla Mackedanz and Whitney McElhone; great grandchildren, Aalayiah Scott, Aviana Scott, Trey Scott Jr., Dane McElhone, Kaylee Mackedanz and Kyla Mackedanz, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Shannon was preceded in death by her loving husband Lee, parents Martin and Dorothy Nickelson, brother Robert (Bob) Nickelson, sister Margaret Woidela and brother Walfred (Wally) Nickelson.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery will take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
