Sandra Lee (Courneya) Eftefield

Sandra Lee Eftefield, age 87 of Anoka, formerly of Big Lake, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024. She was born in Detroit Lakes on June 3, 1936. 

Sandy graduated from Detroit Lakes High School with the class of 1954. She had a passion for quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, painting, gardening, music and dancing. Sandy was a beacon of strength, independence, and integrity, and her unwavering commitment to her morals served as a guide for those around her. Her loving and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She will always be loved and in our hearts forever. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane Eftefield; daughter, Vicki Jo Sanford-Key; grandsons, Griffin and Jonah Sanford; stepdaughter, Charlene; and parents, Norman and Alice (Rasmussen) Courneya. 

Sandra is survived by her children, Kathryn (Jon) Holmes, Thomas (Cindy) Sanford, Daniel (Marilyn) Sanford, Michael Sanford, David (Jennifer) Sanford, Steven Sanford; stepdaughters, Debra, Becky, Jennifer; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and other family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, at Central Lutheran Church, 1103 School St NW, Elk River, MN. Family burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, MN.
