Ronald "Ron" Ross Obituary

RONALD “RON” L. ROSS

Ronald L. Ross, son of Lawrence and Eleanor Ross, was born on June 30, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Crystal, MN, and graduated from Wayzata High School, Plymouth, MN, in 1956. On August 20th, 1960, he married the love of his life, Karen Peterson, and they  enjoyed 61 years of marriage. They had three children and lived in Crystal and Elk River. Ron was a volunteer firefighter in Crystal, MN, for 30 years. He worked at the Bungalow Restaurant for many years with family and friends, enjoying the comradery. In the mid-70s, he began working for Northern States Power (NSP) in the accounting department and as a Warehouse Supervisor and retired in 1998.  Ron then worked at Whispering Pines  Assisted Living, helping with maintenance and cooking for over ten years while enjoying time with the residents. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family. When the kids were young, he would take them all camping to places like Eagle Lake, Mille Lacs Lake, and even the Black Hills, hitting as many KOAs as they could find in the area. Once the kids were grown, Ron and Karen continued to enjoy traveling. First with his motorcycle and then in later years with their camper to many exciting locations. They were avid members of the Christian Motorcycle Association and enjoyed camping in some of their favorite spots, Branson, the Black Hills, and Gooseberry Falls. Spending time with longtime friends on these trips made it even more special for them. Ron loved being outdoors. Whether it was hunting, motorcycle riding, horseback riding, or even mowing the grass, he enjoyed it all. Ron was very handy and enjoyed woodworking – making items such as benches, gazebos, and wishing wells.  If you were not sure how to fix something, you just needed to ask Ron and he would have a great idea. Ron was also a great bowler, beginning in his youth. At one point he tried out for the Professional Bowlers Association.  Ron was a loving husband and father, and he will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Karen; daughter, Jeri (Rick) Joslin, Anoka, MN; 2 sons, Scott (Barb Zavala), Estelline, SD, and Jason (Fiancée’ –  Shawnda Anderson), Elk River, MN; grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Kruger, Steven Joslin, Kirk, Kyle, Brittny Zavala, Andrew Joslin, Kelly Joslin, Trent, Madisen, Harley, Creed, and Axel; 2 great-grandchildren, Caleb and Coda Kruger; 2 sisters, Barbara (Carl) Rosenow, Perth, Australia, and Laurie (Curt) Libby, Frederic, MN. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Eleanor Ross.
