Robert (Bob) Paul Hackenmueller, age 77 of Elk River, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 23, 2024 after a courageous 8 month battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer. Bob was born June 23, 1946 in Minneapolis to Herbert and Corrine Hackenmueller.
Bob graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School in 1964. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and spent his years on the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier and USS Proteus submarine tender in Guam.
After honorable discharge, Bob enrolled at Dunwoody College of Technology in the Electrical Construction Program. After completion, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 292 where he worked for more than 30 years as an electrician.
Bob enjoyed retirement for nearly 20 years. Those days were filled with fishing trips, camping, playing cards, woodworking, and activities with the grandchildren. He made friends wherever he went. He always had a smile and a good story or joke to share. He was proud to be a veteran along with being a member of the Elk River American Legion Post 112 and the Crystal Knights of Columbus.
His family meant the world to him. He was a role model for his sons, he enjoyed 48 years with the love of his life, Sharon, and he loved his grandchildren with every fiber of his being.
He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Corrine Hackenmueller; bother David Hackenmueller; parents-in-law Leonard and Betty Crandall.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon Hackenmueller; sons Bryce (Svetlana) Daily, Dennis (Corinne) Daily, Sean (Melinda) Daily and Andrew (Nettie) Hackenmueller; grandchildren Brennan and Maxwell Daily, Austin Denekamp, Cortland, Emma, Lauren, Isabella, Ava and Sebastian Daily, and Kenzie and Cooper Hackenmueller. He is further survived by his brother Tom (Peggy) Hackenmueller; sister Jane Paulson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29 from 5-8pm at Dare’s Funeral Home (805 Main St. NW, Elk River, MN). Prayer Service to begin at 7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Church of St. Andrew (566 4th St., NW, Elk River, MN) at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 30. Visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow at the Elk River American Legion Post 112 (525 Railroad Dr., Elk River, MN). Private family interment at Fort Snelling will follow at a later date.
