Robert Bryson

Guy Robert Bryson Guy Robert Bryson, 92, Ramsey, formerly of Alden, Minn., a storyteller with a fast smile and gentle heart, passed away Thursday, March 18th 2021, in Ramsey of a broken heart after losing his wife of 67 years, Delores, in January.

(Delores would have said he went to his real home with more farmland, pigs, cattle and horses than Bob could hope or imagine.)

Bob was born December 15th, 1928 in Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Minn., to Lawrence and Hulda (Peterson) Bryson. He was proud of being Irish and Danish, surviving polio, learning to walk again, being a starter on Alden’s 1945 undefeated football team and earning a full music scholarship to Augustana in Souix Falls.

Robert met Delores Margaret Spain at a Rural Youth event and married her 3 months later. He adored raising purebred Hampshire, Yorkshire and Duroc hogs and Polled Hereford cattle. All his life he told stories of his precious pony Pal and dogs Goldy, Rex (given him by Bill Miracle when he left for WWII) and Mickey. Mickey is brought up to this day by friends and fellow hog breeders as being truly an amazing dog.

He was always appreciative that he was able to travel to Europe multiple times including leading tours for Rural Route Tours. Bob loved to dance. In his youth, he loved the Wells and Albert Lea dance halls. He danced as long as he could walk. He might limp to the dance floor but as eyewitnesses said, ‘he glided across the floor’ once there.

Robert was thankful for all the amazing people that GOD put in his life including (not full list): Aunt Nora and Uncle Pete who took him in after polio, Hemmingson’s who took a little boy to a Gopher football game, Alta Clausen who called him ‘her little Bobby’, Elwood Jensen and Wes Pearson for being amazing and fun friends. His many friends in the Hampshire business blessed him deeply.

Most of all he loved his wife, Delores and his kids, Nora Lou, Heidi Mae and Guy Robert as well as all that he truly considered his kids You know who you are. Heidi will attest that he spoke of you all constantly, proudly and fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Guy, his brothers Bill and Dick, nephews Bill Bryson, Bill Pixler, Darrel Sievert and many beloved cousins and in-laws. He is survived by his daughters Nora (Doug) Felton, Heidi (Matt) Habben, grandchildren Miranda Darlene Joy and Bryson Robert William, sister-in-laws Phyllis Rathbun, ShirleyAnn Pixler and Mavis Bryson, several nieces and nephews and their children and his international ‘children’ Harumi Morishima and Elina (Laitinen) Parviainen.
