Patricia M. Shemick

Pat closed the last chapter of her physical life on November 16th, 2025, after reading her book and turning in for a good night’s rest, where she passed peacefully in her beloved lake home. 

Patricia (Pat) Marie Shemick was born in Green Bay, WI on April 18th, 1946, to parents William and Dolores ( Kernan) Vallier. She is the 2nd eldest of 4 children, having an older sister Sandy Hendrickson (who passed in 2006), and younger siblings, Joanie Kassner and Billy Vallier, who still reside in Green Bay.

Pat married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Shemick, on January 9th, 1965, who she now rejoins in this next chapter of life. They have three children together, Gregory Shemick, Julie (Tucker) Carlson, and Kristin (Mike) Mullen. Pat enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Lucas, Koriana, Tupe, Koa, Maxwell & Grace. She is also survived by great-granddaughter, Kai’ana.  Many summers were spent on the lake at Grandma’s, and she made sure there were homemade desserts, deviled eggs, potato salad, and salty snacks at the ready for all to enjoy, including herself, of course. Pat was an avid reader, a lover of nature and all animals, a witty conversationalist, a master keeper of files & lists, a professional paralegal, a bit of a grudger, a spiteful and malicious card-player and a second Mom to many!  There wasn’t a person who met her and didn’t instantly become enchanted with her engaging and blunt charm. No one could hold a candle to her napping expertise. We all knew not to call between the hours of noon and 3pm, knowing the nap happened sometime in between!

Pat is survived by her brother-in-law, Tom Hendrickson, nephews and nieces Todd Hendrickson, Brad Hendrickson,  Jamee Kassner, Chassie Kassner, Scottie Vallier and Autumn Vallier. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Mary.

We are so grateful to have had her in our lives, and while her physical presence leaves a void, the strength, love, and perseverance she has instilled in us, buoys and comforts us now.   

Pat’s Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, Dember 7, 2025 from 12pm to 3pm at Rockwoods: 9100 Quaday Ave. NE Otsego, MN 55330, with cocktail hour at noon and service commencement at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Arrow’s Heart Animal Rescue (www.arrowsheartanimalrescue.com), the Tri-County Humane Society (tricountyhumanesociety.org), or your local animal shelter. Pat rescued numerous dogs through the years and would love this gesture from those who cared about her!
