Age 46 of Elk River, MN passed away on July 17, 2020 at Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Nikki was born July 22, 1973 in Marshall, MN to James Jr. and Joyce [Engel] Menk. She graduated from Marshall Senior High School and later attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Nikki’s career took her to a number of cities in the Midwest, with the most recent being the Elk River area for the past 15 years.

Nikki married Shawn Robert Holmes December 4, 1999, had 3 amazing children and have had a blessed 20 year marriage. Nikki was active in school and youth sports with her children, as well as, with her church and community. She was a lover of golf, exercise boot camps, Tough Mudder Races, traveling to support her children’s athletic endeavors, vacations with family and friends and anything that would challenge her to set a goal. Along with just spending time with those that she loved.

She is survived by her husband Shawn, children Peyton, Preston and Phoebe and beloved canine companions Coco and Bella; parents James Jr. and Joyce Menk; grandparents James Sr. and Ermalee Menk; brother Jason Menk; mother and father in law Jolene Moon and Mike Traen; sister in law’s Julie Holmes and Kimberly Moon; brother in law Jason (Kate) Nepp; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws and friends.

A loving, caring and supportive wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend. She is missed and loved.

Services will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 1103 School St NW, Elk River, MN on Friday July 24, 2020. Visitation will start at 2:00pm with a celebration of Nikki’s life starting at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers: We want to give Nikki the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes. We are appreciative of donations to help with financial assistance.
