Michael Gene Cline, age 67 of Elk River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 15, 1956 in Two Rivers, WI.
Mike graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1974, excelling in football, track, cross country, and competing at state in wrestling. Upon graduation, Mike enlisted in the US Army. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in physical education and minor in health. He worked retail security with Fleet Farm for 8 years, Coborn’s for 8 years and Lunds & Byerlys for 17 years.
Mike was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed bird watching, yardwork and caring for his grass and trees, and spending time with his family and friends. His introverted disposition made him enjoy small group conversations that allowed him to bring out his dry humor. He was very much a “people person” and had a fun going and caring personality.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Mary Cline; sons, Eric Cline, Tyler (Kaila) Cline; stepsons, Joseph (Ashley) Edsall, Nicholas (Amy) Edsall; grandsons, Carter, Jaxson, Blaine, Collin, Barrett, Elliot; siblings, Robert, Douglas (Mary), John (Joy), Shelly (Scott), Cindy (Vivick); Goddaughter, Jennifer; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patti Cline; parents, Charles and Marlene (Pagels); and brothers, Richard and Patrick.
