Phillip and Delvina Dahlheimer, farmers, were blessed with the birth of their second son, Merlin John, on Jan. 26, 1915. He was one of seven children. He attended country school for 8 yrs. then worked on the family farm and for neighbors. John married his wife of 53 yrs., Mildred Weber of Fletcher on May 24, 1938.They bought their farm on the Mississippi River in Dayton and together raised 12 children. John and Millie devoted their lives to family, farming, and church. John, having a strong work ethic and to provide for the family, also worked 30 yrs. at Honeywell, retiring in 1965 at the age of 62. They then traveled south for the winters, enjoying the warm weather, good times together and with friends. John always took time to enjoy his passion for hunting and fishing with his sons, friends and other family. He loved playing cards (smear) with his Dayton friends and other family.
