Mary Kay Flynn Obituary

 

Mary Kay (Gaebel) Flynn, age 76 of Elk River, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, November 18th 2023, at home in Elk River, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM. Friday, November 24th 2023 at Dare’s Funeral Service in Elk River, MN with the rosary and a short prayer service at 7 PM.  Visitation will also be held 9 AM to 10:45 AM prior to mass at Church of the Sacred Heart on Saturday, November 25th. Curt and Vicki Rivers will be leading the rosary at 7 PM and 10:30 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 25th 2023 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Freeport with Father Daniel Walz officiating.  Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in New Munich, immediately after mass.  A luncheon will be in the lower level of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mary Catherine Gaebel was born December 1, 1946, in Melrose, Minnesota to Cyril and Alfrieda (Schulte) Gaebel. Mary Kay went to business school after she graduated from Melrose High School; she moved to the north metro area in the early 1970’s and worked at MATE in the Human Resource department from 1977 to 2016, when she retired. During her free time, Mary Kay enjoyed: playing cards, her cabin, fishing, dancing, going on vacation and most of all - spending time with family and friends. 

Mary Kay was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich.

Survivors include her children, Jim (Berenice) Rouse of Plymouth and Corrie (Pete) Rivers of Elk River; grandchildren, Priscilla, Michael, Christopher, Alexander, John, Luke, and Mark; siblings, Rich (Sherry) Gaebel of Albany, Judy Gaebel of New Munich, JoAnn (Jerry) Fleischhacker of Albany, and Sue Ann (John) Tidd of Sartell.

Mary Kay was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Rouse, parents, Cyril and Alfreda Gaebel and brothers, Kenny Gaebel, and Don Gaebel.

Serving as casket bearers are Michael Rouse, Christopher Rouse, Alexander Rouse, John Gintz, Luke Gintz, and Mark Gintz.  Cross bearer is Priscilla Rouse and scripture bearer is Shelley Lobitz. Readers are Jon Gaebel and Amy Hennen. Gift bearers are Sheila Olmscheid, Kelli Meyers, and Jackie Ettle. Eucharistic Minister is Judy Gaebel. Eulogy will be by Jim Rouse.  Bag Pipes will be played by Darren Gaebel.
