Mary A. (Backmann) Witzman

Age 90 of Elk River, died on 4/4/21. Preceded in death by parents, Albert & Veronica (Krippner) Backmann; husband, Jerome (Jerry) and brother, Henry (Hank) Backmann. Survived by children, Jeanne (Dennis) Mertz, Nancy Ehlert, Jim (Debbie), Sandy (Dave) Sroga, Diane (Pat) Worms, Ray (Greta) and Beth (Rick) Mata; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fr. Albert, Frank, Howard and Alice; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, a Rosary maker, and afghan maker for hospice in Elk River. Visitation 4-8PM, Wed, 4/7 and 9-10AM, Thurs, 4/8 at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St, NW, Elk River. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30AM, Thurs, 4/8 at Church of St. Andrew, 566 – 4th St, NW, Elk River. Interment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope.
