Mary Strand Obituary

Our amazing wife, Mom, Nana, Mother-in-law, and friend Mary Strand, age 71, passed away March 3, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents Leo and Ethel Dorr, sister Sharon (Duane) Kahmeyer, Sister-in-law Darleen (Chuck) Coon.

To know Mary was to be touched by a special light that she exuded in the love she shared for everyone. Her laughter could make you forget your troubles. Her advice would guide you to the decision she knew you really wanted to make. Her smile would help you forget your troubles, and her stories would make you laugh until you cried.

As a child she brought her friends laughter when she caused mischievous fun on the nuns of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. As a child she built friendships that lasted a lifetime. The love she had for her family and time spent with her brother Tom (Bev) Dorr was so cherished.

She married the love of her life David A. Strand October 1, 1977. They lived in Rogers for 48 years, and together they shared many adventures, from dog sledding, to traveling, and spending time with their friends and families.

Of course, Mary’s most rewarding adventure was parenthood when they had Spencer (Abby) Strand, and Allison (Christopher) Libersky. Mary’s love and dedication to her family was immense, making sure our lives were filled with fun, adventure and so much love. Her creativity and pure love of life made everything we did amazing, and even when plans did not go the way they were supposed to, somehow, she made what went wrong the best part of the activity!

Her love of being a parent never ended, but when she became a Nana, she truly felt joy. The love, and pride she had for Mikayla Strand (21), Izzy Strand (17), Connor Strand (14) and Owen Libersky (5) was expressed to everyone she could tell. She made sure her time with them was spent making them feel so loved, and special.

As a Tupperware lady for over 40 years Mary was truly the life of the party. And, she had an amazing ability to throw the best parties, with the most creative and fun activities and invitations. Everyone always talked about the food that she would prepare and serve; there was never a hungry stomach when Mary planned an event.

Mary loved sharing her time with her friends, all of her kids’ friends who she truly adored and treated them like her own, her Tupperware friends and volunteering. One volunteer activity that brought her such joy was teaching Sunday School with a group of kids that she taught year after year. They brought her as much joy as she brought to them, she loved watching them grow up.

She loved Angels and always talked about how she always made sure there was an angel in every room of her home, not always in plain sight, but there. As we find these around her home, we know they are messages from her and give us strength to continue on. We always knew she was our Angel on Earth. And now she is our Angel in heaven. Mom, we love you to the moon and back, forever, and ever.

Mary is survived by: Husband, David Strand, Son, Spencer (Abby) Strand; Daughter, Allison (Christopher) Libersky; Grandchildren, Mikayla, Izzy, Connor Strand, and Owen Libersky; Brother, Tom (Bev) Dorr; Brother-in-Law Roger Strand; many nieces and nephews, and so many friends.
