Martin T. Moritz

Age 81, of Elk River.  Martin left this world peacefully and entered heaven on Aug 5, 2025.  He married the love of his life Caron on Dec 5, 1969, and they remained together for 55 years until his passing.

Martin was well known in the Nowthen and Elk River areas for his lifelong love of farming with his 3 sons, which included being contractors at the Elk River Cargill research farm for 52 years.  He and Caron started Cash Gas, Inc and CGI Transportation and operated it with their sons for nearly 40 years.

Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Leonora Moritz; Caron’s parents, Charlie and Eleanor Leider; brother-in-law, Dale Leider, Keith Leider, Lowell Shaffer, and Ron Werner; sister-in-law, Jeri Shaffer.

Martin is survived by his wife, Caron; brother, Berthold (Idell); sisters, Diane and Rozanne; brother-in-law, Al Leider; sisters-in-law, Myra Werner and Sue Leider; sons, Theodore (Gretchen), Kevin (Gwen), and David (Becky); grandchildren, Jared, Claire, John, Adrianne, James, Elizabeth, Jaylinn, Carl, Lauren, Christopher, and August; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him as a fair, generous, and Christian man.

Funeral service at 2:00PM on Sat, Aug 16, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 7515 269th Ave NW, St Francis.   Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00PM on Fri, Aug 15, 2025, at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St NW, Elk River.

Interment at St John Lutheran Cemetery in Nowthen at 4:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Martin’s name may be directed to Zion Lutheran School of Crown, and St John Lutheran School of Elk River.
