Lyle George Ott, age 91, passed away on June 3, 2023 at The Homestead at Anoka. He was born on May 12, 1932 to George and Ella (Kliever) Ott and attended St. John Lutheran School. Lyle proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Mary Jean “Chubby” Anderson on July 9, 1957 and they raised three daughters on a dairy farm in Nowthen.
Lyle loved his family, friends, farming and fishing. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and he made friends everywhere he went, especially on the lakes fishing. He was a kind and gentle man with a big heart, he worked hard and he loved animals, nature and the outdoors. We will all miss the twinkle in his eyes, his sweet smile, cute laugh, warm hugs and listening to his life stories. He will be in our hearts forever.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, little sister Marlys, special aunt Lydia Kliever, father- and mother-in-law Lester and Mary Anderson, and son-in-law John Travalent.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife Chubby of 66 years; devoted daughters Penny Travalent, Peggy (Troy) Maciej and Rita (Mark) Sjoberg; grandchildren Amber (Brian) Roach, Brandon Maciej, Ashley (Baylen) LaRue and Chelsey (Tyler) Kopischke; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers Ellsworth Ott and Kenneth (Kathy) Ott; sister-in-law Donna Warren; and many relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main Street NW in Elk River; family and friends may begin gathering at 6 p.m. A reception will follow at Elk River Lutheran Church (next-door to Dare’s in the lower level). A private family service and burial at Vernon Cemetery in Elk River were held in June.
Lyle’s family would like to thank the staff of The Homestead at Anoka and Allina Hospice for their excellent care of Lyle, and a special thank you to Kevin Leistico of Dare’s Funeral Services and Pastor Margaret Quill for their compassionate support and guidance.
