Lola Claire (Werner) Driessen

Lola Claire Driessen, 96, of Elk River, MN went to be with her LORD and Savior on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.  She grew up in Chaska, MN, the youngest of three children born to Wilbur and Margaret (Stanley) Werner. A loving wife to Donald M. Driessen, she loved connecting with people and kept everyone around her on their toes by saying and doing the unexpected.

Lola's humor, independence, and love for the outdoors carried her through life and influenced her spiritual life.  She encouraged others with both words and actions.  Lola impacted her community in various ways.   The Werner Studio and Lola provided a pictorial history of Chaska.  Moving to Elk River in 1967, she was active in the community as an election judge, regularly attended City Council meetings, participated in the Relay for Life for many years and wrote numerous Letters to the Editor.  Lola befriended people of all ages, and treasured friendships with younger people to keep herself feeling young. 

Lola is survived by her children: Janell (Tom) Thompson, LeAnne (Dwayne) Budreau, Michelle (Brian) Boersma, Nathan (Cheri) Driessen; grandchildren: Tanya (Brooks) Clemenson, Amanda Budreau, Joy (Sam) Ashwood, Elizabeth Alamo, Kaitlin Thompson, Alexander Driessen, Grant (Amber) Thompson, Kara (Chris Pecore) Budreau, Blake Thompson, Joshua, Stephanie and Claire Boersma, Kimber Driessen, Timothy Boersma and Kaylee (Luke Burdette) Driessen; 14 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tom Driessen; sister-in-law, Eleanor Dunn; and numerous nieces, and nephews.  Lola was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Don Driessen; her son, Kent Driessen, her parents and siblings: Marian Anderson and Weston Werner, and grandson-in-law, Randy Alamo.  

Visitation: Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 5-7:30 PM.  Memorial service: Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior.  Services are at Elk River UMC 1304 Main St. NW, Elk River, MN.  Lola donated her body to the University of MN.  Interment MN Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.  Arr: Dare's Funeral Home 763-441-1212 daresfuneralservice.com
