It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Lloyd Alan Campbell, who departed this life on March 21, 2026 at the age of 63 at his home in Zimmerman, Minnesota.
Born on July 24, 1962, to the delight of his two sisters, in Great Falls, Montana to John W. Campbell and Helen M. (Klaus) Campbell. Lloyd lived a life defined for his curiosity, figuring out how things worked, all things motors, going fast, Star Trek, his witty humor in making people, especially his friends, laugh, his infectious giggle, his passion for animals and children and his love of life.
After graduating from Great Falls High School in 1980, Lloyd had a brief stint in the oil fields in North Dakota. His passion for motors led him to pursue a mechanical degree, however, he was soon lured into the machinist field where his talents to design, build, and figure things out led him to Northwest Iowa Technical College where he completed his Associates degree in 1984. The opportunity of good jobs led him to Minnesota where he met his business partner, Ken. Together they built a successful machining company, Custom Turning. The company rapidly grew in clients and size, expanding space, then building their own building. In 2021, Lloyd and Ken sold their business and retired.
While in Minneapolis, Lloyd met and married the love of his life,Melinda (Perry), November 18, 1995. Together they enjoyed their dream home they built on the lake, camping and after work friendships at the Zimmerman Legion.
Lloyd is survived by sisters Jean Horst (Jon) of Billings, MT, Judy Clay (Herb) of Carrolton, TX, nephew Randall Clay of Carrolton, TX, his beloved dog Dexter, best friend Mike Riddel (Rachelle) and family, caregiver Kim Hermensen, and the many friends he accumulated along the way.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his wife, Melinda, his parents and grandparents Fred and Julia (Humble) Campbell and Daniel and Julia (Willnow) Klaus.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Dare's Funeral & Cremation Services in Elk River, MN. 10:00 AM visitation, 11:00 AM service. Lloyd will be laid to rest next to his wife Melinda along with his two dogs Buddy and Bandit in Ft. Snelling.
