Lise was born in Joliette, Quebec, Canada on October 4, 1942, to Lionel Deschênes and Jeannette Loyer. She passed away on August 27, 2023 in Elk River, MN after a brief battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. She was the eldest of her siblings. She completed secondary school at a convent, and continued her education with art school in Montreal.
She was a brilliant artist, excelling in pencil drawing, painting, and enameling on copper. Her subjects were her environment, such as Asian landscapes while overseas or Mississippi River scenes while in the United States Midwest. She was a talented cook and also enjoyed gardening and watching the birds and other wildlife. She always inspired those around her and had a positive impact.
Lise was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel the world with her husband and live in many different countries, taking in the local customs and experiencing the cultures wherever she was. Her travels took her throughout North America, South America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. While abroad, she also helped teach French to high school students.
Lise’s focus and pride was always her family. She was always involved and helping in every way she could. She was a proud sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Charles with whom she had just celebrated 53 years of marriage; daughter, Genevieve (David) Close - grandson, David Jr (DJ), and granddaughters, Evelyn and Katherine; son, Alexandre (Jessica) - step-granddaughter, Olivia, granddaughter, Marissa, and grandson, Xander.
