Linda Paradise Obituary

Linda Joyce (Lind) Paradise was born on December 22, 1944 to Donald and Iris (Culligan) Lind. While growing up in Minneapolis, she lived in several locations renovated and constructed by her father. Linda graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1962 and married John (Jack) Paradise in June of 1968. They had two sons, Marc and Michael, and established roots in Brooklyn Park, MN, where Linda lived and worked (at Bob Evans Gifts and Partners in Pediatrics) until moving to Elk River, MN, in 2014.

Linda was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in the Fall of 2023. She fought with immense strength and courage with the loving support of her family, hospice and in-home caregivers, who ensured she was as comfortable as possible during this immensely difficult and challenging time. She succumbed to her illness peacefully on Thursday, September 5th, 2024.

Above all, Linda loved her family and dedicated her life to caring for her beloved children and grandchildren. She shared her heart through gentle kindness, everlasting hugs and goodbyes, long phone conversations, hearty home-cooked Sunday family dinners, warm holiday celebrations, thoughtfully selected greeting cards, and beautifully wrapped gifts. She was proud that her two sons created not only music, but also loving families of their own, a true testament to her legacy. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. There is nothing she would not do for her kids.

Linda loved the color red, and we invite you to remember her anytime a ladybug visits you (some believe that if a ladybug lands on you, you should count the spots to predict how many years of good luck you'll have. Others believe that if you make a wish while holding a ladybug and then let it go, the direction it flies away indicates where your luck will come from). Linda also loved strawberries, and she tastefully decorated her home with strawberry-themed items. We also invite you to think of Linda if you see an elephant because she collected elephant statues throughout her life and often received them as gifts from loved ones. Elephants are associated with good fortune, luck and prosperity. Her family and friends were ultimately the luckiest ones to have had Linda in their lives.

Linda is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Marc and Michael Paradise; daughters-in-law, Darla Paradise and Krista Soria; grandchildren, Zachary, Addison, and Simon Paradise; sister and brother-in-law, Dianne (Lind) and James Sorlien; and nieces and nephews, Shannon Thom, Matt Sorlien, Lindsey Sorlien, Stacey Sorlien and stepmother, Julele Lind. She was preceded in death by her mother, Iris, father, Donald, and husband, Jack.

It was Linda’s wish not to have a traditional visitation or funeral service. A small gathering of her immediate family will celebrate her life in private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
