LaVerne Robideau passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025 at the age of 89. She had been a longtime resident of Elk River, St. Louis and Big Lake with her husband, Robert “Bob” Robideau and their five children.
LaVerne was born in the family home at Elk Lake on February 28, 1936. She was the youngest daughter of Gunnar and Nina (Syverson) Anderson and grew up on the family farm with her two older sisters, Elaine and Alice, and her younger foster sister, Arlene. After graduating from Princeton High School, she attended Augsburg College. In 1954 she married Bob and they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary just before his death in 2020.
LaVerne kept a busy schedule with 5 active children taking part in a variety of sports, bands, choirs, scouts, church and school. She was a scout leader, an active member of the church choir, a busy volunteer for a wide range of charities and for 50 years she was very active in the Lions club. Community involvement, especially voting, were passions of hers and all of her children and grandchildren were told firmly to get involved and vote.
LaVerne is survived by her children, Keith, Kevin (Pamm), Kurt and Kathie. She is also survived by her foster sister, Arlene; plus 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bob; son, Kerry; granddaughter, Melissa; grandson, Joe; daughter-in-law, Chrisenda; and sisters, Elaine and Alice.
A memorial service in LaVerne’s honor will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St NW, Elk River, MN, followed by a private family burial service.
