Kaitlyn "Katie" Ann Northuis

Our beautiful Katie Ann Northuis, age 18, tragically left us on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

She was born in Robbinsdale, MN and lived in Otsego her entire life. She attended school at Rogers High School and Elk River High School, and was so proud to have just graduated from MN Virtual School for Success High School. Katie was very creative and loved to express herself through drawing, painting, and many other ways. She was active in gymnastics and diving growing up, making many good memories and friends.  Katie spent many hours with her sister Abbi goofing around, having dance parties and talking on the phone all hours of the night. She was a social butterfly who loved spending time with her friends and family. Most of all, she loved playing hide and seek with her dog Ozzy and sneaking him as many treats as possible.

Katie could light up a room with her smile and goofy personality.  She was an incredibly loving soul, who cared deeply for her family and friends and never failed to make them laugh.  We will miss the love, energy, and laughter she brought to our lives. Katie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jody Northuis; grandfather,  John Freeman, and uncle Robin Freeman.

Katie is survived by her parents, Scott and Mikki (Waslien) Northuis; sister,  Abbi Northuis; grandparents,  Dick and Pat Waslien; grandfather,  Randy Northuis; grandmother,  Sheila Freeman; aunt, Heather (Kory) Huston; uncle,  Eric Northuis and lots of cousins, great aunts, and second cousins.In lieu of gifts or flowers we ask that you consider making a donation to an animal shelter or charity of your choice.  Katie loved animals (especially the doggos) and helping others.  A memorial service will be held at Dare’s Funeral Home 805 Main St. NW in Elk River, on Sunday, June 25th, 2023.  Visitation will be at 1:00 PM, followed by a short service at 2:00 PM.  You are welcome to join us for a reception at the Otsego Prairie Center following the service.
