Joseph Eichinger Obituary

Joseph F. Eichinger of Elk River, MN (previously of Forest Lake, MN and St. Paul, MN) died peacefully on May 29th, 2026 after a battle with lung cancer. Born to LeRoy J. Eichinger and Monica M. Eichinger (Schafer), June 25, 1938, in Red Wing, MN  

He attended Nativity of our Lord in St. Paul, MN for elementary school and Cretin in St. Paul, MN for high school and then worked as a very skilled auto mechanic for over 40 years. 

Joe married Audrey Carol Warchol in 1959 and was married for over 45 years until her death in 2005. They had six children and lived in St. Paul, MN until 1978 when they moved the family to Forest Lake, MN. In 2010 he married Mary E. Morris and was married for over 15 years. Joe loved his family was a great provider. He enjoyed camping, gardening and working in his garage. He also liked to work on computers and did some computer programming. He enjoyed many years of camping and going on trips with the family in the greyhound bus he refurbished. 

During his marriage to Mary, they spent many winters in Casa Grande, Arizona in their park home and were active in their RV community. Joe participated in a band, recording the music the band members played and making recordings for anyone who wanted them. Both Joe and Mary loved getting visitors and showing them around the sites of Arizona. 

Joe is proceeded in death by his first wife, Audrey Eichinger (Warchol) of 45 years; parents, LeRoy and Monica Eichinger; brother, Greg Eichinger; Brother-in-law, Melvin Mathies, Sister-in-laws; Jeannine Eichinger, Sharon Eichinger, Mary Eichinger; Nephews, Joseph Mathies and Matthew Mathies.

He is survived by Mary Eichinger (Morris), wife of 15 years, his six children, Jody Cook (Gary), John Eichinger, Julia Eastman (Daryl), Paul Eichinger, Mike Eichinger (Christina), Jim Eichinger (Angela); eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as many extended family members. 

A Memorial Mass of Chirstian Burial will be held Friday, June 5th, 2026, at The Church of St. Andrew in Elk River, MN. With visitation from 9-11AM and Mass following at 11AM.
