Jeanette Elaine (nee Hurlbert) Leland

July 24, 1942 – December 20, 2021 (age 79)

Jeanette Elaine Leland age 79, of Big Lake, wife of the late David W. Leland, passed away on Monday, Dec 20, 2021 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River, MN. She was born in Minot, ND on July 24, 1942, daughter of the late Walter and Luella (nee Miller) Hurlbert.  “Janette” grew up in Kelliher, MN and graduated from Kelliher HS in 1961.

Jeanette was the loving and unconditionally supportive mother of two and proud grandmother of four; she was an active member of Union Congregational UCC, serving on the Diaconate and active with both the Centennial Society and Ruth Group.  She served on the board of the Elk River Community Theater (ERCT) and was a member of Eastern Star. Jeanette was an avid rose gardener and reader of mysteries, traveled around the U.S. and Northern Europe, and enjoyed spending winters in Alabama and summers Up North.

She is survived by her sisters Judy Hurlbert and Karen (Jack) Ungerecht and brother Sheldon Hurlbert; her two daughters, Pamela Leland, of Longmont, CO, and Melanie (Frank) Morrisette, of Otsego, and four dearly beloved grandchildren.

Funeral service for both David and Jeanette Leland will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Union Congregational Church in Elk River.  Visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
