Jean Kathryn (Legg) Smith

Jean Kathryn Smith, age 80 of Elk River, formerly of Anoka, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was born on July 15, 1942 in Minneapolis to Warren and Katherine (Meade) Legg.

Jean graduated from Anoka High School with the class of 1960. She furthered her education at St. Cloud State University. She was a member and co-director at the Anoka County Historical Society for many years.

On June 8, 1968, Jean Legg and David Smith were united in marriage in Champlin.

Jean was gifted at arts and crafts, making beautiful Santa dolls. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was the light that people were drawn to with her outgoing and caring personality.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Katherine Legg.

Jean is survived by her loving husband, David Smith; daughters, Amy Cornelius(Smith), Rebecca Smith (Jorge Gutierrez); grandchildren, Haley Junod (Daniel), Scott Hagen, Kate Cornelius, Jorge Gutierrez-Smith, Grace Gutierrez-Smith, great granddaughter Clara Junod; brother, Milton Legg; and many other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Champlin Cemetery, 812 Cartway Avenue, Champlin, MN.
