Age 85, formerly of Maple Grove, MN, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 23, 2022.
Born in Fosston, MN, Jean grew up just outside Gonvick, MN on her family’s farm. She enjoyed working in their large farm garden, sewing and cooking with her mother, and playing with her three brothers. When she was 20, she took a leap of faith and moved to the Twin Cities, eventually settling in New Hope, where she lived for 30 years and raised her three children before building her dream home in Maple Grove.
She found a work family at States Electric Manufacturing of Golden Valley, MN, where she worked as an office manager and accountant for 23 years.
She loved traveling with her friends and family, visiting many locations throughout Minnesota, across the United States (including Alaska) and even a trip of a lifetime to Norway with her brother Oris and her mom. While there, they had a wonderful experience connecting with cousins from the “old country.”
Jean had a great love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and worshiped enthusiastically as a member of the Maple Grove Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to sing, so she always enjoyed being part of the church choir. She proudly served two missions for the church, including one at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, UT, which connected nicely with her passion for genealogy.
She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always willing to help them with anything they needed. She will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by father, Norman Hendrickson; mother, Alice (Birkeland) Hendrickson; and brothers, Oris, Clyde, and Neil Hendrickson, and sisters-in law Myrna (Neil) Hendrickson and Correne Hendrickson.
Survived by children, Linda (Jeff) Derner, Steve (Keri) Heroux, and Ron (Becky) Heroux; grandchildren, Nicholas (Cassie) Derner, Eric (Brooke) Derner; Carlee (J.P.) Rose, Wyatt Heroux; Cami (Taylor) Palmer, Allie (Erich) Mielke, Gabby Heroux, Christy (Scott) Sandberg, and Gideon Heroux; great-grandchildren, Lucas Derner, Landon and Ryder Derner, Dax Rose, Max and Annie Palmer, and Clementine and Poppy Mielke; sister-in-law, Pat (Clyde) Hendrickson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 28 at 11:00 AM with a visitation preceding the service at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - 4700 Edinbrook Terrace, Brooklyn Park, MN.
