Jason Hines Obituary

Jason Henry Hines, 55, passed away on November 14, 2025--his 55th birthday--in Eagan, Minnesota. Born on November 14, 1970, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Jason lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family and community.

Throughout his life, Jason wore many hats—each one reflecting his commitment to helping others and creating meaningful connections. This included his career as a paramedic and serving with the Rogers Fire Department, where he provided care and support during some of life’s most critical moments. His work in emergency services was a testament to his courage and compassion, and even after retiring from both, he always spoke highly of the people he had a chance to meet while at North Memorial and the Rogers Fire Department.

Jason primarily channeled his energy into the restaurant industry, where he found both passion and purpose. As the owner of Nature's Hideaway and several other establishments over the past three decades, he became a familiar face to many in the community. His restaurants were more than just places to eat—they were gathering spots where friendships were formed and memories made. Jason took great pride in creating welcoming spaces that brought people together. His love for cooking started early, helping his mother in the kitchen and preparing for the many pig roasts and catering events they did together over the years at Hines Hall.

Outside of work, Jason cherished time spent with loved ones. He had a special fondness for going to the movies and sharing meals with friends and family. Whether it was a casual dinner or a spontaneous get-together, Jason valued every opportunity to connect with those around him. His favorite gathering of each year was the newly established tradition of going to Bar La Grassa with his boys to celebrate Christmas. The meal consisted of gifts, laughs, and post dinner espresso shots with the people he loved the most.

Above all else, Jason was devoted to his family. He is lovingly remembered by his sons Jared, Josh, Carter, and Cody; his parents Jack and Carol; Kim (Craig); his siblings John (April), Julie (Mike), Joe (Heather), Tony (Molly); and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews whose lives he touched. Known for dropping everything when someone needed him—especially for his boys—Jason's selflessness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.

His smile could light up a room; his sense of humor brought joy even in difficult times; and his kindness will continue to inspire those who carry forward his memory. May the legacy of Jason bring comfort to all who mourn him and serve as a reminder of the profound impact one person can have through love, laughter, and unwavering support.
