Janelle Niemela Obituary

Janelle Marie Niemela, age 80 of Elk River. Born on August 31, 1940 and passed away November 6, 2020.

Survived by her five children David (Nanette), Richard (Lisa), Dianne Niemela Hall, Steven and Michael; grandchildren Danielle Guderian, Luke (Becca) Niemela, Amy (Tyler) Van Heel, Sabrina Koelsch (Tony Miller) Jacquelyn Niemela and Jack Niemela; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Guderian, Josiah Fagin, William Niemela, and Eleanor (Nora) Niemela; and her husband Allen Niemela. She is also survived by her sister Paulette Opdahl and brother Terry (Dianne) Kowal, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Peter and Edna Kowal, sisters Charlene Beacom and Roxanne Kowal and brother Wally Kowal.

During the last two and half years of her life she resided at Guardian Angels by the Lake in Elk River.

A celebration of life will be held on November 23, 2020 at Dare’s Funeral Home in Elk River. Visitation begins at 10:00 with a private family service at 11:00 a.m.

Interment at Union Cemetery in Mound.

All COVID-19 restrictions will be followed.
