Ian Ebersviller Obituary

Ian passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at his new home in Plymouth, MN. He’d been there for just short of 6 months, and absolutely loved his housemates and the staff (all his new ‘brothers and sisters’ who loved him as well).

Ian was born on October 29, 1982 in Fargo, ND and passed away on January 16, 2025.

Ian brightened the life of everyone who ever stopped long enough to talk to him (especially if they got an ear hug or joke). As “Uncle O” he was a fun guy who was sometimes reluctant to share his computer, but was thrilled that his nephews could fix it for him. He loved everyone so much, but especially babies (though he hated when they cried).

In his 42 years on this earth, he put 2,442 miles on his wheelchair, gave 5,236 ear hugs, and told 8,721 jokes. Ian never heard a “dad joke” he didn’t love. So, while these numbers are impressive on their own, they only tell a small part of his story.

He had an acutely empathetic ability to know when anyone near him was sad, and was quick to try to cheer them up. He loved being anywhere near water and would kick his dad out of the driver seat every time they went out in the big boat. He was a gentle soul, but had no problem fighting his brothers for toys or, later, the remote and was, by far, the best bowler in the family.

He taught us all so much in his life, and we will miss him more than we can say. Everyone who knew him will feel the ache of the void he leaves behind, but be assured . . . he has the angels laughing tonight.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rod & Bobbie (Hanson) Ebersviller; Albin (“Babe”), Edith (Petersen), and Myrna (Lyren) Morrill. He is survived by his parents Todd and Mary (Morrill) Ebersviller; two brothers and their wives: Josh (Kirstie Santiago) and Seth (Kim Lichtveld) Ebersviller; his nephews and niece: Connor (Kiralyn Garman), Sean, Isaac, Jacob, Case, and Gracie; and his many well-loved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Lutheran in Elk River on Wednesday, January 22. Visitation will begin at 10 am, followed by celebration at 11 am, with lunch to follow.
