Glenn Phillip Holland, age 90, living in Elk River, MN passed away peacefully on June 9th at the Beehive Memory Care Home in Elk River.  Glenn was born on May 1, 1930 in Buffalo, MN the son of Henry and Melba (Fadden) Holland.  He was one of twelve boys and six girls.

PFC Glenn P. Holland, Battery “C” 625th Field Artillery Btn, 40th Infantry Division served in the Army from February 15, 1951 to November 14, 1952.  Glenn served as a forward observer and was wounded in Korea when a grenade was thrown into his bunker.  He was sent to a hospital in Japan for treatment for a 3 ½ month stay.  Glenn earned the Purple Heart along with several other medals during his service and still carried shrapnel in his body from that night in Korea.

Glenn spent his working years after the military as a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator for the Local 49 Int’l. Union of Operating Engineers.  He retired in 1991 at the age of 62.

Glenn met Loletta Richmond in 1954 while working near Ely, MN when he was riding his motorcycle.  They were married on February 18, 1955 and lived in Princeton, Dakota, Milaca and Elk River, MN.  Glenn and Loletta were blessed with two children, two grandsons and three great granddaughters.  Glenn loved to fish, hunt, play cards, travel to Arizona for the winter with Loletta after he retired and spend time with his family.

Glenn was a generous, kind, loyal man with a fun sense of humor and he always had a great smile with a twinkle in his eye.  He also had the skills to fix and build anything.
