George Albert Jedlicka, 95, of Elk River, MN passed away peacefully at Guardian Angels Care Center with his family by his side on September 9.
A loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, George was born on May 22, 1929 to George and Rose Jedlicka. George was born and grew up in Anoka, MN where he enrolled in the United States Army serving as a Motorboat Operator in the Korean War. After his years of service, George was employed at Ward Transfer in Anoka.
George married Joan Jedlicka on July 11, 1953. Together they had four children. George loved the outdoors and taking his children fishing. George had a strong faith and loved attending Saturday evening mass where he always sat in the back pew. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He always told his family “I’m praying for you; you know that it’s what I do all day!” George joined his family for holidays and enjoyed the crazy games they played. George was a jokester and loved many in his community. He truly made people smile and laugh with his presence.
George is survived by his two children Diane (Jim) Novack of Nevis, MN and Joesph (Julie) Jedlicka of Brainerd, MN. Four grandchildren, Amanda and Mike Novack, Kristina (Derek) Olson, Jennifer Jedlicka and five great-grandchildren. His sister Rita (Virgil) Collins and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, former wife (Joan Jedlicka), two brothers (Lawrence and Bob), two infant sons (Michael and Steven).
Services will be Wednesday, September 18th at 12:30 PM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elk River, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
