Age 83, of Minneapolis, passed away on January 1, 2022.
Floyd was born on January 10, 1938, in Wolverton, Minnesota to Anton and Hilda (Berg) Leinum. When he was 4, his parents sold the farm and moved the family to Minneapolis. During high school, Floyd caddied at Interlachen golf course where he developed a life-long love of the sport. He was still beating Brooks on the golf course in his 80’s. In 1969, he purchased a building in Minneapolis to open Floyd’s Auto Service, he moonlighted doing auto body repair and within a few years, quit his job at Thermo King to work on cars full time. He worked out of the same shop to the end (52 years). Floyd enjoyed many past times over the years including racing his Hudson Hornet, bowling leagues, volunteering and a being a member of the Elk River Lions Club, Monday night poker, golfing, black jack at the casino, playing Santa for the grandkids, and he was always up for a game of cribbage with his family. Being a huge animal lover, he usually had his little dog Penny with him wherever he went. They have now been reunited. Floyd had a natural mechanical ability and an eagerness to always help out family, friends and neighbors over the years. Floyd’s humor, one liners & wisdom will be missed.
