Floida G. (Golz) Bird

Floida “Flo” G. Bird, age 90, longtime Elk River, MN Resident

Passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. She waited for this special day, as it was her and husband Jerry’s 72nd wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter E. and Arletta (Wachtel) Golz; and son Randy. Surviving are her husband, Jerry; and daughter Lynn Ann.  Floida was born on April 21, 1935 in Rosendale, Missouri. Her mother was a professional seamstress who passed on her talent to Flo. She spent a great deal of time in her sewing room making clothing for her many nieces, nephews, and herself. She was also a gifted quilter. Clothing and jewelry were important to her, and she always wanted to look nice.

Friends were also important to Flo, and she enjoyed her visits right up to the end. Traveling was another adventure that Flo found great joy in, having taking trips to Hawaii, Greece and China. She was a wonderful cook and liked to entertain and have people over. A Celebration of Life Service for Flo will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Elk River United Methodist Church.  www.daresfuneralhome.com
