Eugene "Geno" Eckman Obituary

Eugene “Geno” Kenneth Eckman left this world to be united with his heavenly Father on August 6, 2022. He passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at home with his loving wife.

Geno was born September 4, 1950, in Minneapolis, MN. He joined the Navy as a young man and afterwards became a family man, wearing that title more proudly than any other. He married the love of his life, Vicki Eckman, enjoying 43 beautiful years together. Recently retired after 46 years with Liberty Carton Company, his career there was yet another expression of his unceasing devotion to the people he surrounds himself with. Geno contributed greatly in both time and frequent donations to his favorite cause, the Union Gospel Mission, always having a heart for the homeless, the downtrodden, and a love for spreading God’s message of hope to others. His favorite past-time was capturing the hearts and minds of his family and friends with his gift of storytelling, often weaving his tales amidst his booming, infectious laughter. His preferred hobby was making sure everyone in his family felt special and knew they were loved. He will be greatly missed for his generous knowing smile, contagious laughter, warm bear hugs, exceptional sense of humor, and a willingness to give the shirt off his own back to anyone in need.

Geno was preceded in death by his parents Vernon Eckman and Amaryllis (Collins) Rude; and brothers Ray, and Bob Eckman. Survived by his wife, Vicki (Van Horn) Eckman; children Alicia (Brent) Harwood, Onna Stewart, Blake Eckman, and Katie (Jake) Morris; grandchildren Kaleb, Morgan, Brandee, Austin, Kate, Moriah, Cayden, Landen, Sophie, Elin, Lena, and Jameson; siblings Elaine Nelson, Joseph (Janine) Eckman, John Eckman, Victoria (Gary) Howe, Valerie (Tom) Tice, Ramona Redman, and Cindy Alexander; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Finally, last but not least, his beloved dog Teddy.
