Eugene "Gene" Peter Zappa

Eugene (Gene) Peter Zappa of Elk River, age 91, died peacefully surrounded by family on July 1, 2023. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Mary Ann; parents Anthony Zappa; and John and Minnie Tucci; brothers Joseph Zappa, Edward Zappa, Nicholas Tucci and Jerry Tucci; sisters Mary Ricci and Virginia George. Survived by beloved children Michael (Lori), Patricia (Bob) Jones, Thomas (Dan), Shawn (Lori), Shannon (Chris) Ambrose; grandchildren Nicole (Alex) Kelsen, Kala Zappa, Taylor (Roma), Peter, Jack Jones, Dominick, Vittorio, Michelyn Zappa, William, Anthony, Joseph, Marianne Ambrose; great-grandchildren Van, Magnus, Alton Kelsen; brother David (Marilyn) Tucci, sisters-in-law Kathleen Zappa, Patricia Zappa, Geraldine Tucci, and Patricia Taylor. Gene was a Korean War veteran and retired after a  30 year career as a MN State Trooper. He was committed to his family and his Catholic faith. Dad was loved and will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Andrew (566 4th Street NW, Elk River) at 10:30am on Friday July 7, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sharing and Caring Hands Minneapolis.
