Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve “Jean”; granddaughter, Lisa Marie; sister, Martha Andrew.

Erling Edward Orwoll was born January 28, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  On June 30th, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve (Jean) Skwarek.

Ed attended Luther College for one year followed by serving in the US Navy for two years.  He then attended the U of M and transferred to William Mitchel College of Law.  He graduated with his law degree and started his practice in 1962. He graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1969. He accomplished all his degrees while working full time and raising a family.  He left private practice and finished his career as an attorney for Miles Homes.

Ed was a loving husband and father who cherished spending time with his wife and family.  He loved being at the family cabin and going camping.  Ed’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, amateur radio, playing card games and flying his hot air balloon.  Ed was a valued member of the community.  He donated his time as a member of the church counsel, hospital board, HOA board, councilman, city clerk and is a former Mayor of Dayton.

In 1985, Ed was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  Ed was a lifelong learner.  After his diagnoses he focused on learning everything he could about MS and alternative medicine.  This knowledge and his positive attitude helped him battle MS until he lost the battle after 35 years.

No matter what Ed was going through he was always positive and put a smile on everyone’s face.  His humor, charm and caring personality was infectious. He was a compassionate devoted father and husband that will be greatly missed.
