Duane Norris Eftefield

Duane Norris Eftefield died of natural causes on November 24th, 2023.  Duane was born May 13th, 1934 in Argyle, Minnesota to Arthur and Isabel Eftefield and grew up in Oslo, MN with his brother Lowell.  He graduated from Oslo High School in 1952. Duane moved to Milwaukee for several years before settling back in Minnesota where he worked as a skilled machinist at Dalton Gear in Minneapolis, MN for over 30 years.  Duane also had many varied hobbies.  He enjoyed traveling the United States with family.  He loved to garden and enjoyed a hobby farm for several years.  He loved singing and actually performed for audiences as a young man; and he was a great dancer. He liked reading, especially the Reader’s Digest and The Warren Sheaf.  He loved to invent and build household gadgets and make good use of recycled materials while doing so.  He loved nature and often headed off to feed the birds and plant trees at his property up north.  Duane also was generous in giving to domestic causes such as The Arbor Society and Native American causes and many other charities to help the environment and impoverished communities.

Duane was married on September 20, 1952 to Beverly (LaFond) (Div. 1960).   Two children:  Charlene and Debra. 

Married March 7, 1964 to Betty (Spry) (Widowed 1983).   Two children:  Becky and Jennifer.

Married to Sandra (Courneya) on November 4, 1989.  Stepfather to Vicki (Dec.) Thomas, Kathryn, Daniel, Michael, David, and Steven Sanford.

Beloved Grandfather of 22 and Great-Grandfather of 26; we will remember him for his good heart, environmental stewardship and silly humor; he will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Central Lutheran Church, Elk River, MN on January 9th, 3PM-5PM, with a light supper to follow. Arrangements by the Dare’s Funeral Home, Elk River, MN. 763-441-1212. (www.daresfuneralservice.com)
