Douglas (Doug) James Mars, age 57 of Elk River, MN, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, May 23rd 2023.
Doug was born on December 31st 1965 in Minneapolis MN to James and Marlene Mars.
Doug met Melissa Artus in 2010. They spent many years together before finally tying the knot in October of 2020. He and Melissa shared many wonderful adventurous years together.
Doug had many interests. He was a jack of all trades. He worked in many different areas and was always willing to help out. He was an avid animal lover, he always said that he loved animals more than people. He was devoted to his beautiful cats and enjoyed each and every one of them. He was involved in rescuing many animals and was always the first person there for any animal who was suffering. He also enjoyed music of all kinds but especially 80’s rock music. He would always have music playing in the background and would strum or drum along to the tune. He was very in tuned with nature as well. He always enjoyed a nature walk or hike in search of agates or anything else he could find. Doug was fearless when it came to nature. Doug always knew how to have a good time. He was always dressed to impress. It didn’t matter if he was going out or just running to the store, he always looked his best. He enjoyed time with family and friends to the fullest. He was deeply loved and will be missed by so many.
