Doug passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025 in Anoka at age 76.
Preceded in death by his father, Elmer Johnson and mother, Dorothy (Benson) Johnson of Cannon Falls, MN.
Douglas graduated from Cannon Falls High School and Augsburg College. After graduation, he was a Junior High School math teacher before working as a systems analyst for Cargill, Inc. for 29 years. He was part of the pit crew for a race car team and a member of the Nowthen Historical Power Assn. He was a lifetime member and volunteer with River Valleys Girl Scouts. He volunteered with several senior groups, and was a member of Masonic Oriental Lodge #34 of Cannon Falls.
Douglas is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, Terry (Thompson) Johnson; brother, Kirk Johnson and sister-in-law Dona (True) Johnson; nephew, Brent Johnson; nieces Angela (Brian) Hasty and Michelle True. Great nephew Riley Dunn and great niece Delaney McArthur. Brother-in-law Dale Thompson, Jr and sister-in-law Barbara (Lucas) Thompson. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins. And many friends, especially James and Mary Jaeger.
Celebration of life on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1-3 pm at Mermaid Entertainment Center, Atlantis Room, 2200 Mounds View Blvd, Mounds View, MN 55112.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital in collaboration with the Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota or a charity of your choice. The family deeply appreciates your love and support during this difficult time.
