Derek Booth, 37, of Zimmerman, MN, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2026. Derek lived life as fully as he could despite having severe abdominal pain and the challenges surrounding this difficult condition for his entire adult life.
Derek was born on June 17, 1988, in Fridley, MN, to Dennis and Sherry (Allen) Booth. He graduated from Elk River High School, where he took pride in his academics and excelled in his studies. Derek went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
An avid outdoorsman, Derek loved visiting the family farm near Staples, where he drove four-wheelers and hunted deer with his family. He enjoyed cutting and splitting wood with his dad and was skilled at creating beautiful turned wood pieces on a lathe. He also enthusiastically participated in online gaming with family and friends. Above all, Derek cherished time spent with his family and shared a special bond with his nephews.
Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore Booth and Richard and Leila Allen; and his uncles, Donald Booth, Douglas Booth, and Dean Booth.
Forever loved, Derek will be deeply missed by his parents, Dennis and Sherry Booth of Elk River; brothers, Daniel Booth of Elk River and Dennis “DJ” (Heather) Booth of Park City, MT; nephews, Wesson and Waylon Booth; grandmother, Shirley Booth of Thief River Falls; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
