Dennis Mattson, 79, of Richfield, entered into God’s Kingdom on August 4, 2023. He was born in December 1943, to Edwin and Nan Mattson.
Denny, the most loving and devoted father and grandfather, is preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers Sonny and Bernie, and sister Elaine. He is survived by his sons, Jeff, Greg and Daniel; grandsons James and Brady; granddaughters Madison, Jenna and Sofia; daughters in-law Marcie and ILonka; his sister Dorothy and brother Robert. He is also survived by his former wife, Marlene, who is the mother of his children. Although married for 11 years, they would later reunite in his final years. She stood by and cared for him until the very end.
Upon graduation from Richfield High School, Denny joined the Army to serve his country. Upon leaving the military, Denny met Marlene and eventually married. Soon after, they adopted Jeff and Greg from Korea and then they were blessed with Danny as their third son. Until retirement, Denny worked for Control Data/Seagate, in addition to various second jobs
to faithfully support his family.
Denny had a warm and inviting personality and easily made friends no matter the situation. His love for music was undeniable. He had a beautiful, deep singing voice and often participated in church choirs, as well as many other public venues. He loved attending events for his grandchildren and leading the tradition of late-night card games with his sons. He was a man of true integrity with the most giving spirit. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever engrained in all who knew him. He was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family.
