Cyril H. Jochum

A celebration of life will be held at Dare’s Funeral Home in Elk River, MN on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM for Cyril Henry Jochum, age 95, who passed away at his cabin on February 6, 2026. Visitation will be one hour prior. Luncheon to follow.  He will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Cyril Henry Jochum was born on June 16, 1930, in Avon, MN to John and Rose (Salzl) Jochum. He proudly served as a Marine and fought during the Korean War. He served from 1948-1952. He received a purple heart from The Battle of The Chosin Reservoir. He married the love of his life on May 22, 1954, and they went on to have a beautiful family, having three sons: Scott, Tom, and Jim. He founded his company A&C Engineering in 1969 and retired in 2020 at the age of 90.

Cyril loved being at the cabin and on the lake; he would spend his time on the pontoon cruising the water and relaxing. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. In his free time, he liked going to auctions and garage sales. He had a large collection of tools and used them every chance he could to fix everything and anything; he was a handyman at heart.

He will be remembered for his kind, selfless, loving, and generous nature. He loved food and bringing people together, whenever people came to visit, he always made sure that they shared a meal together. He deeply cherished the time spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He was a bright light in so many lives and will be missed dearly.

Cyril is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Joanne; children, Scott (Deedra Hopkins), Tom (Jill), and Jim (Jennifer); grandchildren, Luke, Jordan, Christopher, Nicholas, Christina, Jennifer, Jacqui, and Joseph; great-grandson Ezrah, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bernice, Robert, Richard, and Eileen.
