Curt Ebner, age 66, passed away peacefully, albeit unexpectedly, in his sleep Saturday, May 16, 2026. While his sudden departure leaves a profound absence, his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace.
Born on January 25, 1960 to Sally and the late Donald Ebner, Curt grew up with a deep commitment to family and a passion for life. He was a lifelong resident of Elk River, MN and owner/operator of the Elk River Box Factory for much of his life. On May 8, 1982, he married the love of his life, Jan Ebner. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion, building a beautiful life and family side by side.
He was a devoted and loving father to his daughter, Amanda (Ryan) Keyser, and his son, Daniel (Miranda) Ebner. Curt found immense joy in being a grandfather, adoring his two grandchildren, Cece and Emmett, ages 7 and 3, who brought an abundance of happiness and excitement to his life.
Curt was a man of diverse interests who found joy in both the quiet of nature and the imagination of great storytelling. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, the night sky and working in his garden. When he wasn't outside, Curt was a passionate sports fan (Huskies Hockey), lover of foods and an enthusiastic lover of television and cinema. He had a lifelong fondness for sci-fi and DC comic books—especially Superman—and nothing quite matched his love for Star Trek.
Curt was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Lake Region Pioneer Threshers Association in Dalton, MN.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Sally; his dedicated wife, Jan Ebner; his children and grandchildren; his two sisters, Kim (John) Barnes and Jean (Roger) Earl; his brother, Doug (Robyn) Ebner; and a large circle of extended family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald (Donny) Ebner.
A funeral service to celebrate Curt's life will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 10:30 am, with a visitation starting at 9:30 am at St. Andrew’s Church in Elk River, MN. Inurnment to take place at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. Lunch would follow the service.
Services will be livestreamed at: Curt's Celebration of Life
