Age 47, of Elk River, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, October 25, 2024 after a courageous two-year battle with kidney cancer.
Chad graduated from Armstrong Cooper High School. He continued his education at Dunwoody College of Technology, graduating with an Electrical Construction & Maintenance Technology degree. He started his career working as an electrician and spent the latter half working for Excel Energy. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3264 Elk River.
In 2005, Chad Hanson and Allison Moormann were united in marriage. They welcomed their daughter, Breanna in 2006, and son, Tyler in 2009.
Chad enjoyed video games, building Lego sets, putting together puzzles, and reading suspense and sci-fi novels. A lifelong fan of Star Wars and Marvel. He was extremely talented, loved taking things apart and putting them back together, showcasing his knack for problem-solving. He was also an avid fitness enthusiast and swimmer, always seeking new ways to challenge himself. Together with his wife, he enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling, traveling, tackling remodeling projects, and hosting family and friends.
Chad shared a special bond with his children. He and Breanna looked forward to participating in the annual Daddy and Me dance, creating memories that will last a lifetime. With Tyler, he shared a passion for mountain biking and the outdoors, often looking for the next great adventure.
Chad is survived by his loving wife Allison Hanson; daughter, Breanna Hanson, son, Tyler Hanson; mother, Donna (Paul) Dyslin, sister, Maggie Dyslin, brother, Travis Dyslin; parents-in-law, Barney and Carol Moormann; brother-in-law, Scott (Nacole) Moormann; Chad was a proud uncle to Isabel, Gavin, Owen, Ruby, Aria and Jamie; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends. Chad is preceded in death by grandparents, Donald (“Pete”) and Mary Hanson; and beloved dog, Tucker.
Chad will be remembered for his strong spirit, his dedication to his family and friends, and his unwavering ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at Dares Funeral Home, 805 Main St NW, Elk River. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 Broadway Street E, Osseo, MN. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to further Breanna and Tyler’s education.
