Cecil "Butch" Melton Obituary

Cecil Hall (Butch) Melton Jr.

Age 82 of Elk River, MN was called home to be with Jesus on November 9, 2020. After many years of battling COPD and multiple health complications he passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side.

Born October 20, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN. He was in the US Army and served honorably as a Military Police Officer (MP). Upon returning home he became an ambulance driver for Mercy Hospital and a police officer serving the community of Coon Rapids, MN. When he decided to change his career path, Amidores became home. Everyone in Coon Rapids knew Butch. After Amidores, he went on to work for Sam’s Club. He was a sincere and devoted employee always known to go the extra mile. His career at Sam’s Club was his passion. He retired from Sam’s Club but remained a dedicated shopper of, “The Club.” If you can’t get it at Sam’s Club, you don’t need it was his motto.

Chamber of Commerce, ABBA Crisis Pregnancy Center, Promise Keepers and Gateway Church were all places he devoted countless hours, striving to make a difference and give back to his community. As the Chamber of Commerce said, “He was a ROCK STAR”

Everyday Butch read from many devotionals and prayed. He wanted to live his life as close to God as he could. He was always very open and sharing with many his story and journey in coming to know the Lord. His last wish was that everyone come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their own personal savior.

Butchs greatest joy was his loving wife of 42 years, Dee Dee. Truly a beautiful and unconditional love they had. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He would beam proudly whenever he was in their company and shared his life stories. Knowing where you came from and who you were was Butch’s life mission. He was fascinated with Genealogy. Family reunions, dancing, singing, yodeling and Christian music were all things he looked forward to. Fishing in Alaska, Canada and the rivers of the south were his biggest highlights. Macaroni and Cheese, Pizza Ranch and anything sweet were things Butch could not resist. His laughter and smile were infectious.

Although we are sad he is not with us today, we are so thankful he is free from his pain and wrapped in the arms of the Lord.

Butch was proceeded in death by his Mother and Father Helen and Cecil Hall Melton Sr. Sisters DeLorys (Gene) Clavadetscher, Nancy (Verne) Smith, Little Brother Lonnie Melton and Son Darin Lee Melton. Mother and Father in-law Sig and Sally Ronning.

Survived by his devoted wife Delores (Dee Dee) Melton, Children Scott (Diane) Melton, Merci DeRusha, Terri Hight, John (Kim) Lenz, Cheri/Sissy (George) Kline. The pride of his life,  his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Plus, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a vast array of relatives and friends who were very dear to his heart.
