Carol Janice (Tjomsland Ramponi) Summer

Carol Janice Tjomsland Ramponi Summer passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at Elk River Senior Living, at the age of 83. Born on January 11, 1941, Carol led a life marked by dedication to her faith, her family, and her community.

Carol was a woman of deep faith and commitment, actively involved in her church Plymouth Bible Chapel and Story Book Lodge Christian Camp. Her work as a church administrator at Olivet Baptist Church was complemented by her participation in Bible Studies and mission trips to Ukraine.

Carol taught second grade prior to dedicating herself to raising her daughters and mentoring many other young adults. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth, which sparked her love of Lake Superior and the North Shore.  

Carol's personal life was rich with relationships. She was a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a gracious friend. She is survived by her daughters, Loralynne Horne (Tracy), Michelle Minea, and Gina Herrman, nine cherished grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister Fran, and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Jeanette Tjomsland, and her brother, Douglas.

Carol found joy in playing the piano, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and mentoring others. Sunday afternoons were often spent cheering for the Vikings and hoping for a Super Bowl win.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 with a visitation an hour prior on November 23, 2024, at Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main Street NW, Elk River. A luncheon will follow at Elk River Lutheran Church. The family prefers memorials to be made in lieu of flowers. We will cherish Carol's kindness, generosity, and strength forever. Her spirited sense of humor and feisty wit will be missed by all who knew her.
