Carol Miller Obituary

Carol Louise Miller of Zimmerman, MN passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 10, 2025.

Carol was born on June 22, 1953, to Fred and Barbara Cooney in Greenfield, Indiana.  She spent her adult life living in Zimmerman, MN working for ECM in Elk River, The Zimmerman Legion Post 560, and Future Electronics before retiring.  She was a Master Gardener and had beautiful gardens all around her home and grew the most amazing plants in her home nursery, which she named The Blushing Turtle.  She loved turtles!

Carol was a proud and active member of the Zimmerman American Legion Post 560 and spent many years working there volunteering her time to whatever needed to be done.  She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, serving as President and other various positions.  She started the Legion Golf Tournament 18 years ago and was very proud of this as all the money raised went to Veterans.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Barbara Cooney; brothers, Michael and Dennis; her husband of 25+ years, Alan Miller.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Christine McGuire and her fiancée, Ted Davis; her son, Chadron McGuire; grandchildren, Tyler McGuire and Haylee Merta; sister, Susan Smith; many nieces, nephews and friends.

An Open House Celebration of Carol’s life will be on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Station 1 Event Center, 26140 – 136th St NW, Zimmerman, MN.

The family would like to thank the incredible nurses and staff of the St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave Carol.
