Carol Diane Fisher (Fruetel), age 77, long-time resident of Elk River, MN. Carol was born on December 19, 1945 in Long Prairie, MN to Wilbur and Lois (Kamphenkel) Fruetel along with her twin brother, Gary. She passed away at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson on August 17, 2023 after undergoing scheduled heart surgery.
She met Donovan “Don the Baker” Fisher, the love of her life, at Long Prairie Baptist Church as a young teen-ager. They married on August 10, 1963. They were well-known to many in the Elk River area as the owners of Don’s Bakery in Elk River from 1970 to 2003, when they retired from their business. Together, they were long-time members of the “Tri-River Rodders” car club. They spent summers at their cabin on Lake Osakis with family & friends. Carol also enjoyed beading, lunches out with girlfriends… but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her children: Shelly (Randy) Lehn, Lisa (Russ) Sinkler, Amy (Steve) Conklin; and Donovan “D.J.” (Becky) Fisher; 12 grandchildren in order by age: Nathanael John (Megan), Rachel Duax (Chris) Schreiber, Kressi Lehn Soltis, Dylan Lehn, Bailey Bond, Cami Bond, Michlyn Fisher (Derek) Stone, Erin Fisher, Demie Bond, Jace Fisher, Scout Fisher, and Tara Jo Fisher; 5 great-grandchildren in order by age: Louis Soltis, Rebecca John, Emma Soltis, Clara John, and Jolene Soltis; siblings: Gary (Nancy) Fruetel, and Laurie (Mike) Hockemeyer; many more family & countless friends.
Preceded by her husband of 57 years, Donovan Fisher; sibling, Kathy Smith.
