Bonnie Patricia (Scott) Swedal

Bonnie Swedal, 77, peacefully passed away on May 25, 2024 at home following her battle with metastasized breast cancer. Bonnie was born in Grand Rapids, MN, on January 7, 1947 to Bruce and Patricia Scott.  She graduated from Grand Rapids High School and graduated from Bemidji State University.  She was married to the love of her life, Larry, for 51 years. She began working as a teacher in Spring Lake Park before moving to Elk River after starting their family.  Bonnie continued her teaching in the Elk River School District until her retirement. 
 
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Bonnie enjoyed traveling, car shows, gardening, and motorhoming.  She will be remembered for the caring person she was.  She was always offering love and support to her family. 
 
She is survived by her husband, Larry Swedal of Elk River and children Sheri (Dan) Haus of Clear Lake, Michael (Michelle) Swedal of Foley and Steven (Stacey) Swedal of Becker.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Ellie Swedal, Brady and Cole Haus, Maria Swedal, Ethan Haus, Clara and Eli Swedal. She is survived by her brothers, James W. (Elizabeth Newton) Scott of Cohasset and Dan (Kim) Scott of Mankato and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy and her parents, Bruce and Pat Scott. 
 
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Elk River Lutheran Church, 729 Main St, Elk River with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.  Visitation also on Wednesday, May 29 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St, Elk River. 

Private interment at a later date.
